NYC Game Devs is an art history project that seeks to document the game development community of NYC.

A lot of game development history is about preserving ephemera, software, and interviews with creative directors or auteur indie creators. Little is done to document game development communities. If you have ever made a game you would know that “it takes a village”. Playtesters, fellow coworkers, ex-coworkers, life experiences, politics, friends, personal philosophies, and more, all inform the resulting end work. When we fail to document that part of art we have an incomplete picture of the work we interact with.

Fair warning: Some of my questions might give the impression of an interrogation but they are merely straight forward questions to unearth the web of an artistic community and avenues of inspiration. All participants are always allowed to answer questions at their own discretion and they can choose to edit their responses after the interview if they see fit.

I am always happy to interview people!
